But palm oil sector still faces many threats, such as, war, climate, and productivity. In 2002 the invasion of Iraq and Kuwait significantly impacted and now the war between Russia and Ukraine and other aspects makes everything complicated.

InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA – The Government of Indonesia re-proposed to establish the second evaluation panel on the dispute - DS618 in the regular Dispute Settlement Body (DSB) World Trade Organization (WTO), Monday (27/11). It means, the panel would automatically be established apart from if European Union would reject it.

InfoSAWIT, KUALA LUMPUR – Crude palm oil (CPO) price at Malaysia Derivatives Exchange decreased on Wednesday (29/11/2023) because other vegetable oils got cheaper at Dalian Exchange and the increasing ringgit currency.

Palm oil plantations in the province laid on about 1,23 million hectares and made it one of ten big palm oil producers in Indonesia. InfoSAWIT, JAMBI – There is no impossible thing if it is done by synergy. That should be in palm oil sector, which is, synergy among smallholders, government, and companies to get palm oil go forward and smallholders as material suppliers for industries or companies.

InfoSAWIT, JAMBI – Chairman of Persatuan Organisasi Petani Sawit Indonesia (POPSI), Pahala Sibuea mentioned that it is urgent to optimize smallholders’ income when many still insist sustainability challenges. He also said that it needs good cooperation among stakeholders namely between government and the smallholders for they are still not taken care.

InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA – In the annual meeting of Roundtable Conference on Sustainable Palm Oil (RT2023) in Hotel Mulia Senayan Jakarta on 21 November 2023, District of Seruyan, Central Kalimantan Province, represented by Reginal Secretary and the colleague from State of Sabah, Malaysia, got recognition from Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) for what they achieved in the first of four phases heading to jurisdiction certification. The first phase covered initial preparation of institution and policy, including the commitment of the company on jurisdiction certification, plans, plan formulation for social and environmental indicators, and establishing multiparty – forum in jurisdiction level.

InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA – Palm oil plantation company, Astra Agro (AALI) as the subsidiary of Astra International, officially released comprehensive report by third independent party as the response to what civil (organizations) accused about three subsidiaries (of AALI) that operate in Sulawesi. The complaints were about the report published by Wahana Lingkungan Hidup Indonesia (Walhi) and Friends of the Earth (FoE) in 2022.

It was decided after having extraordinary shareholder meetings on Friday, 26 November 2023.

It happened for the cheaper crude oil and other vegetable oils that were traded in Dalian Exchange though the increasing exports limited the decreasing price.
