In This Province, Many Mills Bought Smallholders’ FFB in Open and Close Systems

InfoSAWIT, Bengkulu – The independent smallholders in Sub district of Giri Mulya, District of North Bengkulu, Bengkulu Province complained the purchase strategy of their fresh fruit bunch that some local mills did. “In the late days, the mills were open and close. This always happened,” Maryanto, a local smallholder said.

To InfoSAWIT, Tuesday (7/6/2022), the member of Sawitku Masa Depanku (SAMADE) was confused to what the mills did. Maryanto thought, if the mills are close or stop operating for a while, just like some media reported some time ago, they still operated to get mills from FFB trucks. “If they are close, as a matter of fact, some trucks transporting FFB can get inside the mills in Sub district of Giri Mulya. If they are open, our FFB cannot be sold to the mills,” he said.

The uncertainty made their FFB uncertain and get cheaper. Maryanto mentioned, if FFB in the mills is at Rp 1.500/kg in average, in the middlemen, it could be cheaper to be Rp 1.200 - Rp 1.300/kg.

From what he knew, FFB in the mills in North Bengkulu gets cheaper in every single day.

For instance, in PT Sandabi Indah Lestari (SIL), it is Rp 1.480/kg. he thought, three days earlier, in the same factory, it was still Rp 1.530/kg. In PT Kencana Katara Kewala (KKK) since 4 June, it was Rp 1.609/kg and in PT Bio Nusantara Teknologi it is Rp 1.530/kg. (T5)
