InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA – The establishment of Gabungan Penyelenggara dan Pemerhati Sistem Integrasi Sapi-Kelapa Sawit (Gapensiska) is hoped to consistently implement palm oil – cow integrated program with big responsibility and could solve every issue in it.
Senior advisor in National Action Plan – Sustainable Palm Oil (NAP – SPO), Rusman Heriawan said, the organization is the people’s big hope when cow meat price and self-sufficiency in Indonesia have no solution yet. The stock of cow meat has not been 90% because Indonesia still imports from other countries.
“Gapensiska is hoped to expand its contribution to help and realize sustainable palm oil plantations,” he said in the congress of Gapensiska in Bogor in the midst of March 2022 which InfoSAWIT attended.
He also said, palm oil – cow integrated program is the new ecosystem that leads to zero waste palm oil plantation cultivation and implements good agricultural practices for the planters. It would be the way to support sustainable implementation in the plantations.
For the breeders, this will be the way to multiply numbers of cow in Indonesia which may be about 16 million cows both for the breeders and feeder cows. It needs to know, though palm oil plantation is the main business but it is potential to breed cows in Indonesia.
“That is why President’s Instruction Number 6 / 2019 about National Action Plan Sustainable Palm Oil Plantation or Rencana Aksi Nasional Kelapa Sawit Berkelanjutan (RAN-KSB) in 2019 – 2024 supports palm oil – cow integrated program as RAN KSB as the action and cannot be separated from sustainable palm oil,” Rusman said.
