Aspekpir: We Believed The Government Noticed Us

InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA – The smallholders joining in Asosiasi Petani Kelapa Sawit PIR Indonesia (Aspekpir) did appreciate Ministry of Agriculture for getting their aspiration by conducting online meeting with the Minister of Agriculture, head of agencies in province and district/city level.

“In the meeting, Minister of Agriculture, Syahrul Yasin Limpo clearly and simply said his partisanship with the smallholders. He told that he would struggle for them (for the smallholders’ interests),” Chairman of Aspekpir, Setiyono said, as in the official statement to InfoSAWIT, Tuesday (17/5/2022).

He also mentioned, by the commitment, Aspekpir believed that every aspiration has been told to the Ministry of Agriculture. In the meeting, it was said, there would be policy evaluation and would be in partisanship with the smallholders.

“For the minister heard us and got what our inspirations are, we would leave it to the ministry. We believe, our interests are the priority. That is why Aspekpir would not do demonstration which was running in Jakarta on Tuesday (17/5) and in other regions,” Setiyono said.

He continued, though the demonstration was on behalf of smallholders in Indonesia, Aspekpir was not part of it. The demonstration is needed if the government does not listen to what the smallholders sued.

“The government listened to us. It needs time to substitute our aspiration to be policy. It is impossible for the government to directly publish a policy after hearing our yesterday’s aspiration. We fully believe to the government, namely Ministry of Agriculture,” he said. (T2)
