KAINSTIPER: Time to Cooperate to Get Bulk Palm Cooking Oil Fulfilled

InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA – Keluarga Alumni Instiper (KAINSTIPER) Yogyakarta is sorry for the economic situation in this nation where crude palm oil (CPO) price gets more expensive and rare palm cooking oil that the people use in Indonesia and the world.

KAINSTIPER thought it needs partisanship from palm oil businessmen (stakeholders) nationally to supply the people’s need, namely within economic price.

The expensive palm cooking oil that caused many mothers (females) in line to get economic palm cooking oil happened in the last days. This is phenomenon because expensive palm cooking oil happened for the expensive selling price CPO – the material to produce it.

This description may mean, palm oil as agricultural business plays important and significant roles for the economy globally and in Indonesia. The World Bank (2008) revealed that the economy could grow through the economic development itself which is one re-definition done continuously by agriculture, manufacture, and service sectors.

In traditional, according to Todaro and Smith (2006), the agriculture including plantation were taken as the passive sectors in economic development or as supporting elements only. The running – well and sustainable development can start from the rural by agricultural sector in specific.

For the agriculture plays its roles, one region could get welfare from sustainable development. Agriculture that penetrates in palm oil plantation now has the same description and succeeds the economic development. Palm oil plantations could develop remote areas to be developing and progressive ones.

Developing in 23 provinces in Indonesia, palm oil plantation massively and nationally increased the economy in rural and rural. The economic progress could increase one region to be a district and even a province. The successful development in palm oil – base really increase the development in national scale.

The continuous development in big cities derives from the mills that produced palm cooking oil, other oil foods, and other derivative products. The success is the continuous process dynamic from the market approach which palm oil derivative industries need.

As the result, more than 100 years of commercial development in Indonesia, palm oil plantations have been successfully developed and become the exchange providers for the country in non-oil and gas sectors. The success cannot be separated by palm cooking oil which becomes the ‘primadona’ of vegetable oil in the world until now.

Popularity Increased Palm Oil Selling Price

The more popular palm cooking oil in the globe is, the more expensive it becomes. It is now sold at Rp 25.000/liter. On the other hand, other vegetable oils get increasing selling price. Every product that the people consumed also gets increasing selling price.

But the expensive selling price of palm cooking oil has its own story. The people in Indonesia highly needs it that caused the female in many towns should be in line to buy bulk palm cooking oil.

According to Chairman of KAINSTIPER, Priyanto PS, the increasing selling price of palm cooking oil happens in the world. It is the same with other kinds of vegetable oil. But the people in Indonesia is unacceptable because the female uses it to cook.

As part of daily needs, palm cooking oil is used by many people to process their foods. That is why it is important for the daily life. “Palm cooking oil has its highest popularity in the society. Every product is almost processed by palm cooking oil and its derivative,” Priyanto said.

Just like the increasing needs and the dynamic in Indonesia, KAINSTIPER supported what President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) instructed to ban CPO, palm cooking oil, and its derivative products until no determined limits. KAINSTIPER also encouraged to improve sustainable palm oil governance in the future.

“We have to support what President Jokowi instructed to fulfill bulk palm cooking oil for the people of Indonesia. this is our same responsibility. Though the president never mentioned the time limit, bulk palm cooking oil stocks at Rp 14.000 per liter for the people of Indonesia are the main priority that we should do together,” he said.

Priyanto also mentioned, the cooperation among the stakeholders from the upstream to downstream sectors nationally is needed to fulfil the stocks for the people. This could increase the stocks in this country and there would be no more line when buying it.

“Palm cooking oil gets more popular in the world. More consumers from other countries use it as food oil. As the impact, the consumers’ demands increased while the stocks mostly derived from Indonesia. It needs to educate the consumers so that there would be no line in the future,” he said.

Education to Palm Cooking Oil Consumers

It is important to educate the consumers in Indonesia. Priyanto thought, the people of Indonesia need to know palm cooking oil sustainably. As the educational institution, Instiper still has its duty to educate the people in general and the students in specific.

The education is about what palm oil is, the fluctuation in selling price, and so on. The people need to know that so that they could understand if palm cooking oil selling price will increase in the future. As the commodity in the globe, many countries need palm cooking oil as food oil.

Educational institutional empowerment like Instiper and the alumni could educate the people sustainably. “Educational institution should directly involve in educating palm cooking oil consumers to realize agriculture and plantation businesses in the future,” Priyanto said.

The good cooperation among the stakeholders from the upstream to downstream sectors and education to palm cooking oil consumers sustainably would be the successful key to develop agriculture in 5.0 era. “Let us work together to develop Indonesian Republic,” he said.

KAINSTIPER also hoped, bulk palm cooking oil in this country could immediately be fulfilled and President Jokowi would revoke the export ban. “If the industries supply bulk palm cooking oil, the government should also help the business world by revoking CPO and its derivative export ban,” he said.

He continued, CPO and palm cooking oil export ban should not last for long because it may make palm cooking oil go to an end nationally and the economy in the regions may too because they depend on palm oil plantations. The ban would destroy the smallholders’ fresh fruit bunch for not being harvested because of limited storage tank to CPO.

Serious and Fast Move

Priyanto PS said, the condition in the society may raise social issues namely where palm oil plantations develop because the smallholders do not get much from the increasing CPO price in the globe. This would decrease the mills’ production and will not purchase smallholders’ production.

It is a dilemma. The government needs seriousness and do fast to solve every issue that would come in the future. “Do not let the people of Indonesia not enjoy the increasing price of CPO in the globe because the government itself could not manage it well,” he said.

Just like what President Jokowi suggested palm oil industries to be aware of fulfilling bulk palm cooking oil supply, he continued, the industries should support the same thing as the love realization to this nation and sensitivity to what the low-economic people are facing.

“The cooperation among the stakeholders and government should always run to protect the people of Indonesia and realize the welfare and social fairness for the people of Indonesia,” he said.
