InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) said that it needs to fulfill what the people need on daily needs and this is the highest consideration in every decision to solve rare palm cooking oil in the society.
“I emphasized, for the government, the people’s needs are the major things. This is the highest priority for the government to publish a decision,” President Jokowi told in Istana Merdeka, Jakarta, Wednesday (27/4).
He also said, palm cooking oil material and palm cooking oil export ban could potentially reduce the production of the smallholders. But President re-emphasized that it is about to fulfill the supply in this country.
“The ban will certainly raise the negative, potentially reduce the smallholders’ production that the mills will not buy but the goal is to multiply the stocks in this country to get much more stocks,” he said.
He encouraged the awareness of palm oil industries in this country to prioritize the needs in this country. If seen from the production capacity, President Jokowi thought, palm cooking oil stocks are enough.
“The volume that we produced and exported was bigger than the needs in our country. The capacity is bigger enough,” he said.
He also realized, palm cooking oil material and palm cooking oil export ban would impact to the economy of Indonesia. that is why the government would revoke the ban if the domestic needs are fulfilled.
“Once the domestic needs are fulfilled, I would certainly revoke the ban because I know, we need tax, exchange and surplus trade balance,” he said. (T2)
