ANJ Supports Nowadays Female Independency

InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA – To support female independency around its operational, PT Austindo Nusantara Jaya Tbk (ANJ) through its two subsidiaries - PT ANJ Agri Papua (ANJAP) in West Papua and PT Sahabat Mewah dan Makmur (SMM) in Belitung Timur, empowers female to run society program to create economic challenges to realize sustainable development.

Director of Sustainability & Corporate Communications ANJ Group, Nunik Maharani said, ANJ focuses to deliver useful programs for the female, for instance, Warung Mama program in Papua and Daun Lais program in Belitung. The goal is about to create economic opportunity for the female. They may have less chance to get additional income for their families.

In West Papua, Warung Mama facilitates the local female from Kampung Saga Distrik Metamani, District of South Sorong to learn and get training to cook kinds of food to be sold. Not only that, ANJAP develops them to get simple financial management.

The people of Kampung Puragi, Mama Dorkas Derione said, they are thankful for working at Warung Mama. She can get income and training to make cakes from sago. She never had the skills before.

“I can get about Rp 2 million per month in average. It depends on the cake production in every day. Besides for the house needs, I use the money as part of charity in the church. I thank ANJAP and CID (Community Involvement and Development) team for developing our group in Warung Mama,” she said, as in the official statement to InfoSAWIT, Wednesday (20/4/2022).

ANJAP is in cooperation with the team and mama, commit, persistent to the training and facility. The project is popular in the local society and among the workers. For the success, Warung Mama will have branch in PT Permata Putera Mandiri (PPM).

In Belitung, SMM supports handy-crafts from daun lais which also deliver income. Since 2016, the female groups from Dusun Aik Ruak, Village of Simpang Tiga take daun lais – kind of pandanus leaf but has thorn, to make handy – crafts. Some of them are handy bag, wallet, food container, basket, and others. The webbing handy-craft from daun lais are taken as souvenirs that can be bought if travelling to Belitung.

In 2021, gallery of small business called “Sahabat Lais” got up to 54 million rupiah. Lia Mardiana, one craftswoman of daun lais said, since SMM developed them, Sahabat Lais has been developing fast. It happens for the company provided tools to web and introduced crafts from daun lais for the vistors of the company. They bought bags and others from Sahabat Lais.

Daun lais is a local commodity but it was not advantaged maximally. To escalate business prospect of the local, ANJ keeps supporting them and sharing knowledge about environment and tradition in Belitung. The local wisdom such this should keep running and being conserved. (T2)
