InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA – What the government does by delivering bantuan langsung tunai (BLT) for palm cooking oil, as Commission IV Indonesian Legislators thought, will not be the solution to the expensive commodity price in the late days. The institution thought, this is a very instant policy.
It is planned that palm cooking oil BLT would be delivered to 20,5 million families listed in Bantuan Pangan Non-Tunai (BPNT), Program Keluarga Harapan (PKH) and 2,5 million pedestrian sellers. The numbers to give would be Rp 100.000 per month and in cash in this April for about Rp 300.000 that covers April, May, and June.
Vice Chairman of Commission IV Indonesian Legislators, Anggia Erma Rini in the hearing with Echelon I official of Ministry of Agriculture, said, the subsidy policy or BLT is only instant policy. She thought, this will not reveal the actual issues.
“I appreciate that. It is one fast action to help the people. But how far would it analyze the roots of the issues?” she questioned at Gedung Nusantara, Senayan, Jakarta, Monday (4/4/2022).
She thought, this showed that the country is powerless. As the biggest palm oil producer country, Indonesia has no solution for the expensive palm cooking oil and it may not have the end. “We are the biggest crude palm oil (CPO) producer in the world. We should regulate and what to do. Who don’t we trust? Whom are we powerless?” she asked.
In the same shot, the other member of Commission IV, Hermanto complained about palm cooking oil BLT. “There is help, subsidy in the form of cash. It cannot be palm cooking oil because if we have cash, but there is no palm cooking oil. Is it useful?” he asked.
He also thought, palm cooking oil issues are in the distribution system. “It is in the distribution. The mobs take roles in it. That is why we urged the coordination among every ministry and food taskforce to sue every actor,” he said. (T2)
