InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA – Minister of Labor, Ida Fauziyah told, at least, there are some things to realize conducive industrial harmony in palm oil plantation sectors, they are, the first, it needs to escalate the understanding of rights and obligations between workers and stakeholders in the work relationship.
The second, it needs to escalate the communication among stakeholders, workers, and labor agency. The third, it needs to escalate human resource quality in plantation sectors, the fourth, it needs to escalate the roles and functions of bipartite LKS in the company so that every side understands their rights and gets protection and also have legal certainty through the qualified work conditions.
“These would maintain the business to keep going and welfare the workers,” she said when taking the audience of Chairman of Kongres Aliansi Serikat Buruh Indonesia (KASBI) Nining Elitos at the office of Ministry of Labor in Jakarta, Monday (28/3/2022) as in the official statement to InfoSAWIT.
Ida Fauziyah also mentioned, Ministry of Labor keeps doing the best and commits to support Indonesia free from child labor knowing that palm oil plantation sector is always hit by child labor issues.
“It needs the active roles and collaboration from the government, world business, labor unions, and the people themselves to vanish child labor issues,” she said.
As a matter of fact, palm oil plantations need extra high monitoring system because they are in remote areas with difficult geographic area for the monitoring team to control. “Many palm oil plantations are in remote areas and these are difficult to monitor and deliver law enforcement,” she said.
