Indonesian Legislators: Sue Illegal Palm Oil Plantation with No Tolerance

InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA – About illegal palm oil plantations, Vice Chairman of Commission IV, Indonesian Legislators, Dedi Mulyadi urged Ministry of Environment and Forestry through General Directorate of Law Enforcement should sue every illegal logger, namely illegal palm oil plantation because they got big profits but broke the law. That is why, he continued, it has no tolerance.

He also mentioned, the companies that have no nationalism need pressure for they prioritize to sell palm cooking oil in abroad than fulfilling domestic needs.

“The citizens of Indonesia have rights to get national products, such as, palm cooking oil,” he said in the meeting of Commission IV with Minister of Environment and Forestry, Siti Nurbaya Bakar and her official at Gedung Nusantara, Senayan, Jakarta, Monday (28/3/2022).

He also told that there is no synchronized data among ministries and related institutions to protect the forests in Indonesia. For example, according to Commission IV visit in Riau Province, Monday (7/3/2022), the government sealed forest that illegal activity ran before. But the forest got certificate (to operate) that local Agrarian Affair Agency/National Land Agency published.

In order not to get the same, he hoped, Ministry of Environment and Forestry should cooperate with related instances to improve the administration, fine and Non-Tax Revenue. Besides, he urged, the ministry keeps to enrich the study from many perspectives, such as, planology to get best policy.

“Then we know what we did about illegal forest. The country should not get loss,” he said. (T2)
