President Jokowi Met The Representatives of Independent Smallholders and Discussed Many

InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA – President Joko Widodo took got some representatives of independent smallhlders at Istana Merdeka, Jakarta on Wednesday (23/3/2022). In the meeting, the smallholders told many things, startin from their issues until their innovation that they developed.

“We told some innovations that independent smallhoders developed. Alhamdulillah the president responded us well namely about the fund from Palm Oil Plantation Fund Management Agency to be distributed to smallholders maximally,” representative of smallholders, Rukaiyah Rafik said, as in the official statement to InfoSAWIT.

When meeting the president, they also proposed that there should be representatives of smallholders to be in PFMA to get what they really need to develop palm oil plantations.

About biodiesel program, the independent smallholders proposed biodiesel companies could do partnership with them by direct cooperation. Rukaiyah thought, this would be good news for independent smallholders if it is realized.

“This is enough and good news for us to be here as the representatives of independent smallholders in Indonesia. But if the direct cooperation (partnership) happens, we believe, we will be better and independent in the future,” she said.

Rukaiyah told, 45% of palm oil production derived from independent smallholders.

“We thank the president for his warm welcome and some leads he told. The president would discuss with the unions and would make one model that smallholders could directly produce palm cooking oil,” she said.

Meanwhile, President Joko Widodo also encouraged the independent smallholder‘s cooperation to produce palm cooking oil to be not rare, easily bought in economic price. (T2)
