Elephants Damaged People’s Plantations This Week

InfoSAWIT, MEULABOH - People’s palm oil plantations in Village of Paya Meugendrang and Krueng Bhee, Sub district of Woyla Timur, District of West Aceh were damaged by wild elephants on Sunday (23/1/2022) midnight.

Member of West Aceh Special Legislators, Ahmad Yani said, the people told, people’s palm oil trees fall apart to the ground because of the wild elephants.

“Most of palm oil trees planted by the villagers in Sub district of Woyla Timur, District of West Aceh are broken,” he said, as quoted from Antara.

Until Sunday evening, it was unknown how much the villagers go loss because of the wild elephants. He mentioned, this happened for a week.

To avoid the conflicts between men and the wild, he hoped, Badan Konservasi Sumber Daya Manusia (BKSDA) Aceh Province acts as fast as possible to control the situation.

“We hope, BKSD could immediately control the situation in West Aceh to avoid conflict between mend and the wild,” he said. (T2)
