InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA – To estimate palm oil production, there are some steps besides knowing productive trees in one block, but not include abnormal and inserted trees. From regular tree census, it needs to put in database.
The average weight of bunch is got from the total weight of the bunch and divided by the numbers of bunch. For example, the total weight of the bunch 4000 kilogram (kg) within the numbers of bunch 200 bunches. The average weight of bunch is 20 kg. The next month estimation should use the previous average weight of bunch.
In this activity, there are some kinds of census to do. It depends on the goal and needs, such as,
Daily Production Census/Daily Taxation (Harvest Density Numbers = HDN)
It is done in daily activity to estimate the numbers of production for tomorrow harvest. It is done a day before the harvest. The goal is to determine the numbers of harvesters and the needs of fruit transportation. The fruit calculated is every fruit which has been in seed
Monthly Production Census
It is done in the end of every month in the representation of the block of planting in each division or afdeling. It needs to arrange the Monthly Work Plan in the next month. The fruit calculated is every red fruit or half mature.
Four Month – Production Census
It is done in every four months in every block to harvest. The fruit calculated starts from the coffee fruit (explained above). It is very important census.
Fruit and Flower Census (semester/six months)
It means to calculate every female flower (starting from receptive) and the available fruit in the sample tree. It is usually used to know the chance to get the annual production budget. It is important to be the reference if the census per semester shows that the production budget is got (about some percent from the budget). Starting from now, there should be supporting factors to be prepared to get it. If the numbers show that the production budget is difficult to get, do not be pessimistic because there are other factors that could show the work, such as, the quality and efficient cost. (*)
