InfoSAWIT.JAKARTA - After successfully implementing palm oil biodiesel mixture 30 percent (B30) with fossil fuel in 2021, the government through Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resource (MEMR) will escalate biodiesel mixture to be 40 percent or known as B40.
To run the program, MEMR is now preparing B40 road test. It is planned, it will start in the early of February 2022.
General Director of New Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation MEMR, Dadan Kusdiana told, the road test will take every stakeholder, starting from the private to government sectors.
“This is about to assure that road test will be conducted with the supports from many sectors, such as, Gabungan Industri Kendaraan Bermotor Indonesia (Gaikindo), Badan Pengkajian dan Penerapan Teknologi (BPPT), Ministry of Industry, Palm Oil Plantation Fund Management Agency, and PT Pertamina. It is the same with B20 and B30 road tests,” he said in virtual conference, Monday (17/1/2022).
Dadan also continued, B40 road test will spend five months to know that everything will have no technical issues before it is implemented to the people. “We will wait and see the implementation results from the road trip. We need to prepare recommendation about the production,” Dadan said.
He also hoped, the road test will get the better result for the vehicles and inform about vegetable fuel quality. “Hopefully, from both sides – the increasing biodiesel and diesel mixture/blending,” he said.
Dadan also mentioned, palm oil biodiesel advantage for the domestic in 2021 reached 9,3 million kiloliters by saving exchange up to 66,54 billion rupiah. “We will keep increasing biodiesel mandatory program to reduce import and save exchange,” he said. (T2)
