PT IKL May Break 3 Things

InfoSAWIT, SORONG – Attorney of Regent of Sorong, Piter EII thought that the sentence published by Administrative Court of Jayapura is very good because from evaluation result by Papua Barat Province and District of Sorong, supported by Corruption Eradication Commission, PT Inti Kebun Lestari disobeyed license conditions published since 2008.

There are three things that PT Inti Kebun Lestari broke. The first, until license evaluation done, the company never has had Business Rights as the main condition to operate palm oil plantation. Without Business Rights, there should be  no planting. The second, the company also disobey regulation or obligation in Plantation Business License, including the facilitation to develop people’s plantations. The third, the company also did not negotiate with the people in its concession areas.

One people who lives around PT Inti Kebun Lestari’s concession areas, Manase Fadan said, he and other people who live in Kampung Klamsan, Distrik Malabotom, District of Sorong never knew that their areas are in concession. They know it when Regent of Sorong revoked concession license of the company.

“We never want that a company operates in our indigenous forest. We are relieved for the license revocation of PT IKL. It means, ours is not for any company and we hope, we could cultivate and conserve it to our grandchildren,” he said, as quoted from Econusa.

On 7 December 2021, Jayapura Administration Court rejected the claim of PT Papua Lestari Abadi and PT Sorong Agro Sawitindo for the decision of Regent of Sorong that revoked licenses of the two companies, such as, plantation business rights, location license, and environment license. In the previous, PT. Papua Lestari Abadi got concession license about 15.631 hectares and PT. Sorong Agro Sawitindo got 40.000 hectares.

The sentence is the same with what President Joko Widodo told on 6 January 2022 that said, the government revoked licenses in mining, forestry and every area which has issues. This is about to improve natural resource management to be equal, transparent, fair, and to improve every gap and natural damages. (T2)
