Palm Oil Plantations Prospect in East Kalimantan Could be 1,37 Million Hectares

InfoSAWIT, SAMARINDA – One of palm oil plantation centers is in East Kalimantan. The development prospect could be 1,3 1,3 million hectares (ha).

Head of Plantation Agency, East Kalimantan Province, Ujang Rachmad told, the province has 95 mills with total capacity about 5.000 tons of fresh fruit bunch (FFB) per hour. “The plantations deliver opportunity to develop people’s economy well,” he said, as quoted from official page of Dinas Perkebunan Provinsi Kaltim.

He also mentioned, FFB is expensive now, about more than Rp 3.000/kg. In the smallholders’ level, it could be about Rp 3.300/kg. Ujang also told, the more than 4 year old FFB to 10 year old FFB is more than Rp 3.070 per kilogram.

He continued, palm oil plantations also provide direct work to 340 thousand men from many communities. (T2)
