ANJ: Smallholders Should Get Certification in 2025

InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA – In its operational, PT Austindo Nusantara Jaya Tbk., (ANJ) always implements every available regulation. And to prove the commitment, ANJ would  surpass the regulation obedience “Our target is to certify every plasma smallholder and partner with our plantations, at least, by the late of 2025,” Director of ANJ, Geetha Govindan said, as in the official statement to InfoSAWIT, Monday (10/1/2022).

He also mentioned, the company is committed to new dimension of sustainable palm oil plantation by expanding certification to independent smallholders that supply fresh fruit bunch (FFB) to our company. “ANJ encourages and facilitates independent smallholders to get sustainable palm oil certification,” Geetha said.

Partnership between company and smallholders could be the answer to minimize deforestation and confirm international environmental cultivation standards that smallholders do in Indonesia. “As palm oil plantation company, ANJ is committed to sustainability for every supplier that involves external sides which are mostly independent smallholders and unions,” he said.

According to the company, to escalate organization capacity, ANJ really supports to establish unions so that the smallholders could increase their management and financial capacity, and would train them about good agricultural practices by noticing environmental, social, legal, labor, health, work safety, and other sustainability aspects.

Besides, as part of company’s mission to promote agribusiness sustainable practices, ANJ invested to smallholders to assure that they would fulfill every condition in Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) scheme and also traceability.

By the late December 2021, two subsidiaries of ANJ – KAL and SMM developed more than 1.700 plasma smallholders and conducted partnership with more than 3.000 hectares. By the end of 2021. 7 unions in partnership with ANJ Group got RSPO certificates. (T2)
