Indonesian Legislators: Subsidized Palm Cooking Oil Distribution Should be Equal

InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA – The issue about expensive palm cooking oil in some months is irony because Indonesia is one of biggest palm oil producers in the world. That is why, Chairman of Indonesian Legislators, Puan Maharani thought, the country should assure that the people could enjoy the products from his own land with no issue ahead.

She put example, Malaysia could deliver subsidy to palm cooking oil to its citizens quiet well by deciding the subsidy RM 2,5 or about Rp 8.500 per kilogram for simple package.

She also hoped, the government of Indonesia could deliver subsidy as much as it could for the people to stabilize food price and people will have lighter burden.

She also focused about expensive palm cooking oil price and suggested that the government would distribute cheap palm cooking oil equally. “Until now it is about Rp 20.000 per liter,” she said in the official statement in Jakarta, Sunday.

She also supported the subsidiary of holding perkebunan – PT Industri Nabati Lestari (INL) which is developing palm oil derivative products.

INL now has economic palm cooking oil which is sold Rp 14.000 per liter just like the government decided. “The brand will afford the government’s policy which targets to sell 1,2 million liters of subsidized palm cooking oil to press the expensive price,” she said.

But she continued, INL should be distributed in many regions in Indonesia. She believed that the brand will have the same quality with other brands that people could buy in many markets. (T2)
