Apkasindo: Strengthen Smallholders’ Competitiveness in 5 Aspects

InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA – In 2021 the smallholders joining Asosiasi Petani Kelapa Sawit Indonesia (Apkasindo) focus to increase people’s palm oil competitiveness for independent smallholders still have much disadvantage.

General Secretary of Apkasindo, Rhino Afrino said that in 2021 there are five subjects to focus. The first is how to maintain fresh fruit bunch (FFB) price stable. “For all these years, there are much gap price among palm oil plantation centers in Indonesia,” he said in online press conference that InfoSAWIT joined, Thursday (30/12/2021).

The second is how to optimize productivity and minimize production cost. The third is how to manage and protect smallholders’ assets. The fourth is how to increase smallholders’ resources. The fifth is how to develop communication among many sectors namely in palm oil regulations. “We keep monitoring that the regulation to publish has something to do with palm oil and take side to smallholders,” Rhino said.

Chairman of Apkasindo, Gulat Manurung told that the partnership to get should be strategic and equal. This could be the solution which means, there will be double dimensions – the first is supply chain partnership that covers upstream to downstream sectors; and the second, partnership among institutions both with related ministries/institutions and private institutions.

“Apkasindo will be the bridge between smallholders and the government, in this case, it is about to increase smallholders’ welfare gathered in Apkasindo Indonesia,” Manurung said. (T2)
