ANJ Group Got Two Gold Proper from MEF

InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA – Palm oil plantation and agri-business company, PT Austindo Nusantara Jaya Tbk (ANJ) got fantastic awards by the end of 2021. Through its subsidiaries, PT Sahabat Mewah dan Makmur (SMM) and PT Austindo Nusantara Jaya Agri (ANJA), the two got awards in Gold Program Penilaian Peringkat Kinerja Perusahaan (PROPER) from Ministry of Environment and Forestry (MEF).

The Gold PROPER was handed over by Vice President of Indonesian Republic, Ma’ruf Amin and Minister of Environment and Forestry, Dr. Ir. Siti Nurbaya M.Sc at Gedung II Istana Wakil Presiden RI both in person and virtually from Youtube on 28 December 2021.

For SMM, it is the second Gold PROPER in the last two years in a row while for ANJA, it is the first Gold PROPER.

In his speech, Vice President, Ma’ruf Amin told that for 24 years, PROPER develops to be the platform for business world to implement sustainable business with green economic principles.

Director of ANJ, Lucas Kurniawan told, as palm oil plantation company that is highly committed to protect environment, the award is the commitment of management, hard work, cooperation of every employee, the support of related stakeholders, and the people themselves.

“Good environment management and people’s welfare are the important and significant elements to company’s sustainability. That is why we are committed to create additional values and positively contribute for the local people where we are operating by conducting socially, environmentally, and economically useful business,” Lucas said, as in the official statement to InfoSAWIT, Wednesday (29/12/2021).

In its every operational, ANJ is always committed to conserve environment, involve, and empower the people in many programs. In this year, SMM developed Sawah Apung and ANJA developed Tani Mandiri programs. The two delivered the companies to win Gold PROPER.

SMM in Belitung also develops Kelompok Tani Suka Maju in Village of Jangkang, East Belitung to plant paddy in floating method by using rafts in peat or flood vulnerable areas. The method successfully got bigger production compared to conventional paddy planting. According to dry grain harvest calculation, the average production in East Belitung is 3 – 4 tons per hectare while using floating raft – planting, there could be 7 – 8 tons of rice per hectare. It means, the production is twice.

ANJA in Binanga, North Sumatra developed Tani Mandiri program. The idea came up for the villagers in Tobing Jae, Sub district of Huristak were worried about rat sparrow, and insect attacks that failed their harvests up to 60% in 2017. Besides, pest control still used chemical materials that could be dangerous for the environment. (T2)
