95% of Sinar Mas’ Palm Oil Sources Are Traceable

InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA – After four year – investment and getting rid of many problems that came up in pandemic globally, Sinar Mas Agribusiness and Food got 95% of traceability to plantations in every supply chain. The company’s commitment to fully supply chain that can be traceable happens for the belief that traceability – to know supply chain – will create the basic needed to support sustainable palm oil production in industrial level.

“Traceability helps us to develop better connection and trust with our suppliers. The information from the process enable us to expand ambitiously but we are still realistic to our intervention namely with independent smallholders,” Chief Sustainability and Communications Officer, Sinar Mas Agribusiness and Food, Anita Neville said in online panel that InfoSAWIT joined, Wednesday (15/12/2021).

Anita also trusted that traceability is good not only for the company but also to support vital industry in Indonesia – to help the industries to be more productive, efficient, and competitive – by implementing sustainable and acknowledged production practices.

Since 2015, Sinar Mas Agribusiness and Food got 100 percent of traceability in supplier mills that supply palm oil to six mills of the company, have comprehensive outlook from every supplier, sub supplier and connection among them, possibly enable the company to collaborate and invest to make every supply chain better and more sustainable.

The other traceability is that Sinar Mas Agribusiness and Food has monitored and assessed every crude palm oil (CPO) and palm kernel oil (PKO) supplier to assure that they get the same understanding and obey every sustainable principle in Golden Agri Resources (GAR) Social and Environment Policy.

“Thanks to SMART REACH – Remote Engagement, Assessment and Conference (call) from Home program that by this video conference, since March 2020 to October 2021, we successfully did assess about 72 mills. The numbers increased twice to our total direct field visit in the same period last year,” Head of Traceable and Transparent Production, Wahyu W. Wijayanti said. (T2)
