Indonesia-Delta Wilmar Agree on Positive Palm Oil Campaign in Ukraine

InfoSAWIT, Odessa – To promote mainstay products from Indonesia, Indonesian Embassy in Kyiev took stakeholders in Ukraine in Odessa in the early of December 2021. The visit was about to introduce tropical fruits and palm oil to the local stakeholders and businessmen.

In the visit to Delta Wilmar (DW), Indonesian Embassy had a chance to discuss with CEO and manager of the company which was established in 2004 and started opening palm oil transshipment and processing in 2006. Kuasa Usaha Ad Interim (KUAI) appreciated it for having conducted palm oil imports from Indonesia.

Until now 90% of refined oil that DW processes are from Indonesia (Kuala Tanjung, Belitung, Dumai) with about 750 workers. Palm oil production in DW reached 80% for domestic used and the rests were imported to Kazkhstan, Moldova, and other countries joining in Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). The main clients of DW are Nestle and Roshen – the chocolate company.

As in the official statement to InfoSAWIT, Monday (13/12/2021), the meeting with Delta Wilmar concluded that it needs to conduct information exchange and positive campaigns that will educate the people of Ukraine for some time and reject palm oil negative campaigns that will bother palm oil imports as one mainstay from Indonesia.

The meeting with DW Ukraine was part of economic diplomacy of Indonesian Embassy to encourage trade balance between Indonesia and Ukraine, namely in exports. In 2021, Indonesia once got trade surplus from Ukraine while in the third quarter of 2021, Indonesia’s trade balance reached US$ 854.167 (increased 19.74% from the same period in 2020). (T2)
