Ministry of Trade Will Officially Revoke Regulation about Packaging Palm Oil in 2022

InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA – Due to Covid-19 pandemic which decreases people’s capability to buy, the government will revoke Regulation of Minister of Trade No. 36 / 2020 about “Palm Cooking Oil in Package”.

This is about to give chance to micro, small, and medium businesses (MSMB) to continue theirs because of the expensive crude palm oil (CPO) which is about US$ 1.305/ ton or increases 27,17% compared to it in the early of 2021.

This also increases bulk palm cooking oil to be Rp 17.600 per liter and the packaged one is more than Rp 19 thousand per liter. “Knowing it, we have to revoke the regulation permanently,” General Director of Domestic Trade, Ministry of Trade, Oke Nurwan said in press conference that InfoSAWIT attended, Friday (10/12/2021).

Ministry of Trade noted, palm oil needs for MSMB reached 1,6 million tons in every year and about 2,12 million tons for houses. But in national scale, palm oil needs reached 5 million tons per year. (T2)
