SRP Verification: Proposal to involve Smallholders’ Associations

InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA – Chairman of Forum Perkumpulan Organisasi Petani Kelapa Sawit Jaya Indonesia (POSPI), Pahala Sibuea said, Smallholders Replanting Program (SRP) Regulation which is now being revised noted that in partnership issue that Palm oil Plantation Fund Management Agency (PFMA) does, PFMA could elect surveyors or other institutions.

Knowing this, smallholders proposed that in SRP verification, PFMA can involve smallholders’ associations to accelerate the program and get the target. “For all these years, PFMA elected surveyors but the realization reached less than 30% of the targets,” Sibuea said.

Besides, the substitution of SRP Regulation does not deal the massive issue that independent smallholders are facing, which is, 70% of their plantations are in forest areas.

This issue is important to get solution to realize SRP target. “It is better for the government to get solution for independent smallholders to conduct SRP. In the regulation substitution, there is nomenclature that can be proposed to Ministry of Environment and Forestry with the implementation of Undang-Undang Cipta Kerja, Government’s Regulation No. 23 and Government’s Regulation No. 24,” he said.

But the smallholders are excited to the revision of Regulation of Minister of Agriculture No. 7 / 2019 and No.15 / 2020 to boost SRP that the government proposed within the fund supports from PFMA. (T2)
