Smallholders Support Revision of SRP Regulation

InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA – The regulation of smallholders replanting program (SRP) that the government proposed with the fund support from Palm Oil Plantation Fund Management Agency (PFMA) according to Regulation of Minister of Agriculture No. 7 / 2019 and No. 15 / 2020 will be about to change to boost SRP target realization.

Smallholders joining Forum Perkumpulan Organisasi Petani Kelapa Sawit Jaya Indonesia (POPSI) support the regulation change.

Chairman of POPSI, Pahala Sibuea told, SRP never has socialization fund to get the program (pre SRP). This leads many coordinators of union, groups confused to provide SRP socialization fund.

“The substitution of the regulation, according to Chapter 28 and 29, saying that fund management which covers socialization can be proposed to PFMA, will make unions or groups not confused anymore to get socialization fund,” Sibuea said to InfoSAWIT, Tuesday (7/12/2021).

He also mentioned, though the draft of regulation has no change in general, at least, there is a breakthrough to get partnership. In the previous regulation, the partnership should be from plantation agency in city or district only. “For all these years, SRP should be running with the help of plantation agency in city or district up to the next levels. It was helped by surveyors too. The realization target is not good too,” he said.

The changing direction to conduct SRP with partnership will be positive. Besides accelerating in verification, the other main thing is that partners could monitor SRP realization both in fertilizer application or nursery, mitigation and pest attack. (T2)
