InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA – Alliance to End Plastic Waste (Alliance) successfully conducted ALL_SUMMIT Investor Day. The event was about to get technology breakthrough to manage plastic waste that connects to measured solution with sustainable fund. It was the sustainable way for Alliance to develop and get innovation and investment to help and stop plastic wastes.
The investment conference was based on Alliance's End Plastic Waste Innovation Platform, which is a collaboration with technology acceleration in California - Plug and Play. About 100 start-up companies got supports through the program and it collected modal investment up to more than US$ 50 million. Most of the fund derived from private equity and grants from governments. The guests were from many sectors, such as, private, financial, venture capitalist, family office that represented billion dollar - investment portfolio.
Nine alumni from the program in Asia Pacific also proposed their solutions in ALL_SUMMIT event. The goal is to get new modal. They conducted presentation in front of 120 guests that attended the event both live in Suntec Singapore Convention & Exhibition Centre and online. The programs shown in the event were food/beverage packaging operator that is re-usable, Muuse in Singapore; plastic waste re-cycler, Rebricks in Jakarta, Indonesia; and re-use package provider, Ecovia from Gujarat, India.
The start-up companies started their journey last years when more than 3.000 companies from more than 80 countries were selected and analyzed in innovation center in Silicon Valley, Paris, Shanghai, Sao Paulo, Johannesburg, and Singapore. After they were closely selected, more than 100 businesses were chosen to get 90 day – accelerator program. It commercially got 100 pilot projects and testing solution starting from data analysis up to technology to escalate the waste picking and processing.
“We do not get the perfect solution to manage waste that the people produce every day. But it does not mean, we remain still. Rebricks hoped to offer responsible solution to answer the challenge to process plastic wastes,” Ovy Sabrina, one founder of Rebricks said, as in the official statement to InfoSAWIT, Tuesday (7/12/2021).
President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Alliance to End Plastic Waste, Jacob Duer said, plastic wastes are significant issues in global sustainability agenda which means, countries, companies, and people will need better and more innovations to solve plastic wastes.
“Modal fund which we start to connect through End Plastic Waste Innovation Platform is strong indication to get investment resources in this sector. But there are lots to do to solve the complex challenges. Alliance plays important roles to involve investor communities by conducting ALL_SUMMIT, and help to get plastic waste agenda among investors as part of holistic approach to get green financing,” Jacob said.
