InfoSAWIT, KETAPANG – One palm oil plantation company in Indonesia, Bumitama Gunajaya Agro (BGA) Group in commemoration of Hari Menanam Pohon Indonesia (HMPI) took the people, junior and vocational school in Sub district of Sungai Melayu Rayak to plant trees in Village Forest of Belaban Rayak, Sub district of Melayu Rayak, District of Ketapang, West Kalimantan Province by the late of November 2021.
It is hoped, the activity will escalate people’s awareness about the importance of trees for life. It is also the real form of what President Joko Widodo told some time ago to plant three kinds of tree, such as, productive trees that function to natural conservation, local trees, and superior fruit plants to get economical values.
The planting was conducted in 47 hectare - Village Forest of Belaban Rayak. 9.917 trees were planted, such as, cassava crystal, avocado, longan. Besides, PT BGA also gave productive economical infrastructures, such as, tools, hydram pump to irrigation and renovating Secretariat of Lembaga Pengelola Hutan Desa (LPHD).
Chairman of LPHD Belaban Rayak, Nikolaus Sukur said that the collaboration between LPHD and BGA runs since 2020. The same planting was in Baloi Hill.
“In 2021 – 20025 we will be planting trees in some locations where they were in flame and bushes. They might be about one thousand hectares,” Sukur said, as quoted from Tribun Pontianak.
Head of Village of Sungai Melayu, Y.R. Swandi told, LPHD itself will never manage and cultivate Village Forest of Belaban Rayak or the village. Many should involve in improving it. The supports and helps from the government and related instances, such as, non-government organizations are needed.
Regional Head BGA Sungai Melayu, Rudi Ismanto said that the production or fruits from trees which were planted will belong to the people, not company.
“We hop, by the same spirit of mutual cooperation, everyone can involve and actively take roles. The success of the program in the village forest depend on our same will and we can contribute to welfare the villagers of Sungai Melayu,” Rudi said.
The planting was done in every operational of BGA in West Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan, and Riau for about 100 thousand trees in about 300 hectares of degraded areas. (T2)
