InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA – Chairman of Indonesian Palm Oil Association (IPOA), Joko Supriyono said, developing source of renewable energy in palm oil – base could help to solve energy crisis that many countries are facing still.
He said, renewable energy in palm oil could be one solution or alternative because many countries are in energy crisis. “This will make palm oil industries significant in renewable energy sector,” Joko said at the 17th Indonesian Palm Oil Conference and 2022 Price Outlook, that InfoSAWIT joined, Wednesday (1/12/2021).
He also mentioned, 2021 is extraordinary year for palm oil industries. Crude palm oil (CPO) average price is more than US$ 1.000 per ton throughout this year. Many countries in the world start having economic recovery because of Covid-19 pandemic and palm oil goes by and gets increasing demands.
“Palm oil demand would be increasing namely when many countries are in energy crisis,” Joko said.
He believed palm oil biodiesel will be an alternative to solve energy crisis. “The question is, will it be expensive in 2022? We need to be optimist, it will be happening,” he said.
Joko thought, energy crisis that occurs in many countries, such as, United Kingdom and China will keep happening. Bloomberg reported that in the late weekend, winter season will make energy crises even worse in Europe. (T2)
