InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA –Palm oil shell trade from Indonesia to Japan could be reaching US$ 12 million per year. The potential trade derived from one-on-one business matching between Indonesian palm oil shell stakeholders and Japanese biomass stakeholders which was conducted in Pekanbaru, Riau Province on Wednesday – Thursday (24– 25/11/2021). Ministry of Trade facilitated the business together with Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) Jakarta and Asosiasi Pengusaha Cangkang Sawit (APCASI).
General Director of National Export Development Ministry of Trade, Didi Sumedi, said, the government keeps trying to develop export potential - products and commodities to keep trade balance surplus by maintaining demand and expensive selling price in global markets. “One commodity is palm oil shell,” he said in other place.
Japan is the biggest country to sell palm oil shell. It may be the main country to sell palm oil shell. It happens for Japan regulates that 24% energy production in the country should derive from new renewable energy in 2030.
Director of Export Development Cooperation, Ministry of Trade, Marolop Nainggolan told that Ministry of Trade keeps encouraging to increase palm oil shell exports to Japan by conducting cooperation with many stakeholders.
“General Directorate of National Export Development, Ministry of Trade and Japan External Trade Organization try to maintain and even increase palm oil shell exports to Japan. One form of the cooperation is conducting one-on-one business matching,” Nainggolan said, as in the official statement to InfoSAWIT, Saturday (27/11/2021).
He also mentioned, Ministry of Trade invites candidates of buyer to directly see stockpile and mill so that they are sure with palm oil shell quality from Indonesia.
“Besides business matching, we also take Japanese stakeholders to come to stockpile and mills in Siak and Dumai, Riau Province. We hope, Japanese stakeholder candidates convince the massive potential of palm oil shell from Indonesia and want to conduct long term business with local stakeholders,” Nainggolan said.
Business matching with Japanese stakeholders in April 2021 successfully delivered palm oil shell by PT International Green Energy for about 10 thousand tons and PT Prima Khatulistiwa Sinergi for about 11 thousand tons in the early of November 2021 to fulfill delivery contract per month continuously to Japan. In the early of December 2021, PT Jatim Propertindo will send 20 thousand tons palm oil shell to fulfill contract with Japanese companies. (T2)
