InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA – Palm oil Plantation Fund Management Agency (PFMA) conducts Pekan Riset Sawit Indonesia (Perisai) where national scale palm oil researchers met online through webinar.
The theme was “Sustaining Resilience of Oil Palm Industry amidst Covid-19 Pandemic”. The keynote speaker was Coordinator Minister in Economy, Airlangga Hartarto that discussed sustainable palm oil contributing to economy nationally in new norm.
Director of PFMA, Eddy Abdurrachman in his speech said that the goal of Perisai is to encourage palm oil researches that PFMA funds and could be taken for advantages by many stakeholders.
The other speakers in Perisai were Head of Badan Riset dan Inovasi Nasional, Laksana Tri Handoko. He discussed about “Tatanan Baru Riset dan Inovasi Nasional” and Chairman in duty of Indonesian Palm Oil Board, Sahat Sinaga that discussed about “Kebutuhan Litbang untuk Menjawab Tantangan Industri Kelapa Sawit”.
In the event which runs on 17 – 18 November 2021, 13 researchers delivered their research results and development about palm oil. They are about cultivation/land/soil, biomaterial, bioenergy, food/health, environment, waste management, social, economy/management/information, and communication technology (ICT).
“Research and development are significant to answer every issue that palm oil industries face, from downstream to upstream sectors. It will directly impact to develop sustainable palm oil industries nationally, recommendation to publish policy and fight for negative campaigns based on objective data and facts,” Eddy said, as in the official statement to InfoSAWIT recently.
Since it was made in 2015 until now, PFMA has funded and cooperated with 69 research and development institutions both from the government, university, non - university, 840 senior researchers, and 346 students. In the program, there have been 232 contracts of research and development in palm oil and delivered 201 scientific publication in national and international level, 42 patent lists and 6 books published.
Palm oil plantation research and development from upstream to downstream sectors in PFMA are the ways to empower, develop, increase plantation and industrial capability to be synergy in realizing sustainable palm oil plantations. (T1)
