Wilmar is in 322 Global Company in Environment Work

InfoSAWIT, SINGAPURA - Wilmar International Limited (Wilmar) announced the list of the company in Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI) World Index in food, beverage, and tobacco industrial group. Wilmar is in 322 global companies in World Index from the best environment, social, and governance (ESG) work after in the previous, the company was listed in 2020 DJSI index in Asia Pacific.

Wilmar got 70 points in Standard and Poor (S&P) Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA), with average industrial score reaching 25 points. The best industrial score was 88 points. CSA used comprehensive research and methodology focusing to the best companies in their class to deliver assessment based on EGS and economic criteria by strongly emphasizing long term shareholder assessment.

Chief Sustainability Officer Wilmar, Jeremy Goon said, his side is honored to be admitted one more time on its commitment and sustainability practices. “We are encouraged with our participation in the major DJSI World Index. It continues what we achieved in 2020 DJSI index in Asia Pacific,” he said, as in the official statement to InfoSAWIT recently.

Jeremy also mentioned, as Wilmar is selected in DJSI World Index, it means, the company is on track in sustainability. This is significant knowing that many levels in the society should face global challenges caused by pandemic.

“As advance company which vertically integrates agri-culture and food products, we survive by chasing up our sustainability until it is beyond our operational. We keep urging industrial transformation to be more responsible and sustainable,” he said.

DJSI, including Dow Jones Sustainability World Index (DJSI World) were launched in 1999 as pioneer series of global sustainability benchmark which is in regional and country scale.

Global Head of ESG Research S&P Global, Manjit Jus said that DJSI award is the industrial scale – sustainability advance confession. The records of companies participating in 2021 S&P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment are the proofs of developing action for ESG disclosure and transparency.

Wilmar is put in DJSI World after having agreement with other 10 companies operating agriculture and trade sectors when World Conference about Forest ad Area Use in Conference of Parties (COP) 26 was conducted.

The companies are committed to fulfill roadmap sector to escalate consistent supply chain action by reducing global warming 1,5 celsius degree that should be realized in COP 27. The statement of 10 companies which have total income about US$ 500 billion re-confirmed urgent corrective action to identify solution about big scale deforestation, green – house gas emission reduction.
