InfoSAWIT, SAMARINDA – Provincial government of East Kalimantan keeps supporting the economy development by constructing the infrastructure. After successful constructing Bandara Samarinda Baru (BSB), Datah Dawai, and Maratua, Bontang and Paser has the parts of the port. Unfortunately, Kutai Timur (Kutim) has not got the positive signal from the central government yet. As a matter of fact, Maloy Special Economic Zone (SEZ) is the one to ease the investor in.
Head of Development Plan, Regional Development Plan Agency, East Kalimantan Province, Berlin F Sihaloho said, provincial government of East Kalimantan has planned to construct port in Kutim eversince the provincial government supported to construct pioner ports to be commercial. But the central government has its authority. “The central government considered many things – modal, goods, passangers. Will those be the prior? Governor has asked that there should be port next to Maloy. At least, there is a private anvil for jet,” he said.
Meanwhile two ports have been prepared in Bontang and Paser. Berlin mentioned, Bontang Port will be granted to the central government. Paser Port will be constructed because it is next to other province. Besides the people of Paser know that they are left behind.
To realize Kutim Port, his side keeps urging for it has been proposed for too long to the central government. The issue which the regional government faces is the readiness of the district and city to fund and release some regions. “In this case, the assest release. It needs inventory, how wide will be released,” he said.
He also mentioned, constructing the port will spend lots of buget nationally. The regional government should plan and do constructive study. For example, how the location and the land construction are and about the big plane to land there.
If Kutim port has been constructed, he thought, there will be better economy to develop by assuming, the port is finished in the same time with Maloy SEZ so when Maloy is ready for the investors, the port has operated too. “In order that the investors are faster to invest in Maloy.
