InfoSAWIT, KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysian crude palm oil (CPO) production recorded another increase in August 2025. The latest data from the Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB) shows that CPO production rose 2.35% month-on-month (m-o-m) to 1.86 million tons, up from 1.81 million tons in July.
As quoted from the MPOB Report on Friday (9/12/2025), Malaysian palm oil exports experienced a slight correction. In August, export volume was recorded at 1.32 million tons, a marginal decrease of 0.29% from 1.33 million tons in the previous month.
For other commodities, palm kernel production also increased by 2.66% m-o-m to 443,077 tons, from 431,615 tons in July. However, crude palm kernel oil production declined by 4.39% to 208,655 tons, while palm kernel cake shrank by 4.63% to 227,473 tons.
In terms of stock, national CPO inventory rose by 5.45% to 1.08 million tons in August, compared to 1.02 million tons in July. Processed palm oil stocks also grew by 3% to 1.12 million tons.
"In total, Malaysian palm oil inventory rose by 4.18% to 2.20 million tons, from 2.11 million tons in the previous month," MPOB noted in its latest report.
The movement of derivative product exports was also varied. Palm kernel oil exports jumped by 22.91% to 110,656 tons, while palm kernel cake exports fell sharply by 30.82% to 175,874 tons. Oleochemical exports decreased by 7.28% to 230,988 tons, and biodiesel exports plummeted by 37.32% to just 30,833 tons.
As for imports, Malaysia did not record any CPO imports in August, after importing 7,816 tons in July. Meanwhile, palm kernel oil imports dropped drastically by 42.56% to 14,082 tons, compared to 24,516 tons in the previous month. (T2)
