InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA – Nine female farmers representing cocoa, coffee, rubber, and palm oil commodities are set to travel to Europe as part of the Roadshow of Indonesian Smallholders of Indonesia's Leading Commodities. The tour will take place in Brussels, London, and Rome from September 13–19, 2025.
The delegation will be led directly by Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister, Arif Havas Oegroseno. This diplomatic mission is noted as unique because it directly involves small-scale farmers who have been impacted by the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR).
"Through this mission, female smallholder farmers will have the opportunity to discuss directly with businesses and importers of Indonesia's leading commodities, as well as meet with the EUDR policymaking community in Brussels, London, and Rome," said Diah Suradirejad, Senior Environmental Advisor for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as quoted by InfoSAWIT from her LinkedIn on Saturday (9/6/2025).
In addition to conveying the smallholders' position to the European Parliament, the European Commission, and the Council of EU Member States' Representatives, the farmers are also scheduled to meet with international media and non-governmental organizations.
"It is a pleasure to accompany the journey of these nine female farmer champions. Hopefully, they can bring the aspirations of small farmers to the European stage," Diah concluded. (T2)
