InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA — PT Agrinas Palma Nusantara (Persero) has officially appointed Zulham Syakwan Koto as the new Director of Business and Commercial as part of a management restructuring initiative following the handover of the Minister of State-Owned Enterprises' decree and PT Danantara Asset Management. This appointment is part of the company's broader strategy to strengthen its transformation into a robust, adaptive, and globally competitive national agribusiness holding.
Agus Sutomo, the President Director of PT Agrinas Palma Nusantara, expressed deep appreciation for the outgoing officials who have completed their terms, particularly highlighting their roles in overseeing the transition from PT Indra Karya to the new entity, PT Agrinas Palma Nusantara (Persero).
One notable figure in the new board is Zulham S. Koto, an experienced professional with a significant background in both national and international palm oil industries. He has held strategic positions in several companies, including as Director of Government Relations at Cargill, a global agribusiness firm based in the United States. He also served as a Director at PT REA Kaltim before establishing his own company and venturing into entrepreneurship.
Zulham's contributions to the plantation sector extend beyond corporate roles. He is widely recognized as the founder and former Chairman of the Indonesian Planters Society (IPS)—a professional organization for planters and agricultural practitioners in Indonesia. This organization emerged from the concerns of Indonesian planters who lacked a professional platform similar to the Incorporated Society of Planters (ISP) in neighboring Malaysia, which has existed for over a century.
"With the establishment of IPS, Indonesian planters can synergize in developing their professionalism and contribute to enhancing the performance of Indonesia's plantations. Planters are the spearhead of the plantation industry's performance," Zulham stated in a previous interview with InfoSAWIT.
He emphasized that IPS was founded to be the best organization in developing professionalism and welfare for planters while promoting advancements in the plantation, agriculture, and downstream industries, both nationally and globally. According to him, building reliable human resources is the primary mission of this organization.
Zulham's appointment as Director of Business and Commercial at Agrinas signals a strong intention from this state-owned enterprise to leverage field experience and extensive professional networks to support its business transformation, especially amid increasingly complex agribusiness challenges and rising sustainability demands.
With Zulham's robust track record in operations, public policy, and human resource development in the plantation sector, this move is expected to position Agrinas Palma Nusantara strategically as a key player in the national agribusiness industry. (T2)
