InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA – Sub Holding of Nusantara Plantation PTPN III (Persero), PTPN IV PalmCo, has once again achieved a positive milestone in sustainable environmental management. Based on the Decree of the Minister of Environment and Forestry of the Republic of Indonesia No. 129 of 2025, 61 units of palm oil plantations and mills owned by PalmCo have successfully obtained Blue PROPER Certification.
This number represents nearly 90% of all palm oil processing units owned by the company, indicating a high level of compliance with environmental regulations and PalmCo's consistency in implementing responsible operational principles.
“Alhamdulillah, PalmCo has achieved 90% Blue PROPER this year. This shows that the company has met the required environmental management criteria,” said PalmCo's President Director, Jatmiko, in an official statement reported by InfoSAWIT on Wednesday (July 2, 2025).
PROPER, or the Company Performance Rating Assessment Program in Environmental Management, is an evaluation system from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK) that assesses how well companies meet environmental management standards. The Blue rating indicates that the company has met all basic requirements, although it has not yet reached a high level of innovation or social contribution.
However, PalmCo does not intend to stop at this achievement. Jatmiko emphasized that the company will continue to push for improvements in environmental management quality to reach Green and Gold PROPER levels.
“90% is certainly proof of our commitment. But moving forward, PalmCo will continue to strive for improvement. We do not want to settle for just Blue, but also aim for Green,” he asserted.
PalmCo targets five palm oil mills to achieve Green PROPER this year, namely PKS Rambutan and PKS Sei Mangkei in Regional 1, PKS Bah Jambi and PKS Pagar Merbau in Regional 2, and PKS Lubuk Dalam in Regional 3. This achievement is driven by environmentally friendly innovations, including the development of Biogas Power Plants (PLTBg).
“This is part of our decarbonization roadmap, as well as a tangible manifestation of PalmCo's commitment to reducing emissions and improving energy efficiency in the palm oil industry,” explained Jatmiko.
This step aligns with Indonesia's target to achieve Net Zero Emission by 2060. Currently, PalmCo operates 11 Biogas Plants with a total capacity of 12.05 MW, has built one Compressed BioGas (CBG) unit, and plans to develop a Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) unit as part of its clean energy transition strategy and greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reduction.
“Environmental management is not just about compliance; it has become an integral part of our sustainable business strategy. From PROPER to renewable energy, all our steps are directed to support Indonesia's vision of maintaining a sustainable environment for future generations,” concluded Jatmiko.
With this achievement, PalmCo further solidifies its position as a national palm oil industry player that focuses not only on productivity but also on sustainability and social-environmental responsibility. (T2)
