InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA – Royal Golden Eagle (RGE) Palm Business, through its two business lines, Asian Agri (upstream sector) and Apicall (downstream sector), continues to strengthen its commitment to sustainability with a focus on reducing greenhouse gas emissions across various operational aspects. Johan Kurniawan, Director of Corporate Affairs at RGE Palm Business, emphasized that the company remains committed to facing various challenges in achieving sustainability targets.
Johan revealed that despite some ongoing processes, the company is on the right track in implementing its sustainability strategy. “We continue to move forward, despite external challenges beyond our control, such as partner engagement and government regulations. However, we strive to manage what we can control,” he stated to InfoSAWIT recently in Jakarta.
One of RGE Palm Business's main focuses is the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, which not only come from factories but also from the entire supply chain, from plantations to production processes. Johan stressed that optimizing existing systems is a top priority. “We have 11 biogas facilities that we will continue to optimize to significantly reduce emissions,” he explained.
Additionally, the company is developing new strategies for implementing renewable energy, including further exploration of biogas utilization at the industrial level. Although the application of this technology is still in the development stage, Johan is optimistic that this innovation will have a significant impact on achieving emission reduction targets.
“We continuously monitor industry developments and adjust our sustainability strategies to current conditions. Emission reductions must be comprehensive, not only at the factory level but also throughout the palm oil industry value chain,” he added.
With various initiatives underway, RGE Palm Business reaffirms its commitment to achieving long-term sustainability targets. Johan concluded his statement with optimism that the company will continue to adapt and innovate in facing challenges in the palm oil industry. (T2)
