InfoSAWIT, SAMPIT – The Garuda PKH Task Force has placed seizure notices on the land of PT Global Alam Perkasa located at Km. 35, Dusun Rongkang, Desa Natai Baru, Kecamatan Mentaya Hilir Utara, Sampit, covering an area of 12,069 hectares on March 18, 2025. This action has drawn responses from Yunan Nasution, the Chairman of the Duta Sampit NGO, who questions the basis for the seizure.
Yunan stated that as an environmental activist, he has attended several ISPO and RSPO certification invitations at PT Global Alam Perkasa. He emphasized that the company is committed to building sustainable plantations, evidenced by its ISPO certification since August 10, 2021.
"The company has implemented the mandatory requirements of ISPO certification, which emphasizes compliance with Indonesian law, good agricultural practices, environmental management, labor responsibility, social responsibility, community economic empowerment, transparency, and the enhancement of sustainable practices," Yunan told InfoSAWIT on March 21, 2025.
He added that since the issuance of Presidential Regulation No. 44 of 2020, ISPO certification has been mandatory for all palm oil business actors. Therefore, he questions why PT Global Alam Perkasa, a subsidiary of Musim Mas Group, is included in the forest area regulation enforcement list.
"This company has been operating in Kotawaringin Timur for about 17 years. To our knowledge, PT Global Alam Perkasa has sufficient permits. We hope the government can consider and find the best solution to this issue," he added.
According to him, the implementation of environmental sustainability aspects by the company is necessary to realize a sustainable industry. Therefore, he hopes for an objective evaluation regarding the land seizure to avoid harming parties that have complied with government regulations. (T2)
