InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA – PT Austindo Nusantara Jaya Tbk. (ANJ) has recorded a solid financial performance throughout 2024, achieving a remarkable 106.7% increase in net profit, rising to US$9.2 million from US$4.4 million in the previous year. This success was accomplished amidst operational challenges due to the impacts of El Niño and the dynamics of the global crude palm oil (CPO) market.
ANJ's Chief Financial Officer, Nopri Pitoy, explained that the increase in average selling price (ASP) of CPO by 12.3%, from US$731 per metric ton in 2023 to US$822 per metric ton in 2024, was a key factor driving the company's financial performance. Additionally, cost efficiencies, particularly in the sago and edamame segments, further strengthened profitability.
Weather Impact and Operational Efficiency
ANJ's CPO production saw a decline of 13.5%, from 283,651 metric tons in 2023 to 245,395 metric tons in 2024, due to extreme weather conditions. ANJ's plantations in Belitung Island, West Kalimantan, and South Sumatra were affected by drought caused by El Niño, while plantations in North Sumatra II and Southwest Papua faced heavy rainfall and flooding.
In a written statement quoted by InfoSAWIT on Sunday (March 16, 2025), despite these challenges, ANJ successfully reduced sago processing costs from US$3.1 million in 2023 to US$2.1 million in 2024. Furthermore, the edamame business recorded significant revenue growth of 124.1%, increasing from US$1.9 million to US$4.2 million. Frozen edamame sales volume surged by 331.4% to 1,569 metric tons, while fresh edamame rose by 32.1%. ANJ also expanded its export markets to India and Jordan and strengthened its domestic market with the brand "Edashi."
Entering 2025, ANJ targets a 15% increase in CPO production, supported by higher production of fresh fruit bunches (FFB) from core plantations and the purchase of FFB from external sources. A replanting program covering 12,635 hectares, with more than half already yielding, is also expected to positively contribute to production.
In addition to focusing on production increases, ANJ is implementing various climate mitigation strategies, including an Integrated Pollination System, a Water Management System to address flooding, and an Integrated Fire Management System to prevent land fires.
Diverse Awards
Throughout 2024, ANJ received various awards for its commitment to sustainability and good corporate governance, including first place in the Annual Report Award (ARA) 2023 for Non-Financial Public Companies, Gold Rating in the Asia Sustainability Reporting Rating (ASRRAT) Awards 2024, and Gold PROPER for four subsidiaries from the Ministry of Environment.
ANJ also ranked first in Indonesia in the Sustainability Policy Transparency Toolkit (SPOTT) with a score of 92.8%, received an A rating for Forest Protection in the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) 2024, achieved an ESG score of 65 out of 100 from S&P Global ESG Scores, and scored 95.56 in the ASEAN Corporate Governance Scorecard (ACGS) 2024 with a "Very Good" rating.
"This recognition reflects our commitment to sustainability and good governance. We will continue to strive to create value for all stakeholders," said Nopri Pitoy.
With a strong business strategy and a focus on operational efficiency, ANJ is optimistic about continuing to grow and face industry challenges in the coming years. (T2)
