InfoSAWIT, KUNINGAN – The Kuningan Regency Government is taking serious measures regarding the distribution of palm oil seedlings and planting activities in the region. Kuningan Regent H. Dian Rachmat Yanuar has instructed the Civil Service Police Unit (Sat Pol PP) and the Food Security and Agriculture Office (Diskatan) of Kuningan Regency to conduct field surveys to assess the environmental and spatial impacts.
According to Regent Dian, palm oil planting in Kuningan must be thoroughly evaluated to avoid disrupting the ecosystem balance, environmental sustainability, and food security. “This policy is based on ecological, social, and economic considerations to ensure environmental sustainability and land use that aligns with regional potential,” he stated, as quoted by InfoSAWIT from the official Kuningan Regency website on Friday, March 14, 2025.
The survey conducted by Diskatan in collaboration with Sat Pol PP found that the distribution and planting locations for palm oil seedlings are in Dukuhbadag Village, Cibingbin District. The Head of Diskatan Kuningan Regency, Wahyu Hidayah, revealed that the area used for planting is in Block Ciambal, covering approximately 24 hectares.
“Currently, planting has begun with a spacing of about 140 trees per hectare. The total number of seedlings planted is estimated to reach 3,000 trees,” explained Wahyu during a site visit.
As an initial step, Sat Pol PP has installed warning signage indicating that the area is under monitoring. The signage refers to Regional Regulation (Perda) No. 3 of 2018 concerning Public Order and Community Peace. The installation of this signage signals that the Kuningan Regency Government will continue to monitor and follow up on palm oil planting activities to ensure compliance with regional regulations.
In the future, the Kuningan Regency Government will further assess whether palm oil planting in the area should continue or be halted to maintain environmental sustainability and spatial planning. (T2)
