InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA – The price of crude palm oil (CPO) at PT. Kharisma Pemasaran Bersama Nusantara (KPBN) Inacom was set at Rp15,135/kg on Friday (March 7, 2025), marking a 1.35% increase or an increase of approximately Rp202/kg compared to the CPO price on Thursday (March 6, 2025), which was Rp14,933/kg.
According to information obtained by InfoSAWIT from KPBN, the CPO price for Franco Belawan & Dumai was also set at Rp15,135/kg.
Meanwhile, Reuters reported that palm oil futures contracts on the Malaysian Exchange closed sharply higher on Friday, (March 7, 2025), recording a weekly increase of 1.6% amid concerns over production cuts in several major palm oil-producing regions in Malaysia. The benchmark palm oil contract FCPOc3 for May 2025 delivery on the Bursa Malaysia Derivatives Exchange rose RM147 per ton, or approximately 3.28%, closing at RM4,627 (US$1,048.73) per metric ton.
It was noted that Malaysia's palm oil inventory in February is estimated to have dropped to its lowest point in nearly three years due to flooding, according to a Reuters survey. Referring to a report from the Indonesian Palm Oil Entrepreneurs Association (GAPKI), Indonesia's palm oil exports reached 29.5 million metric tons, down 8.3% year-on-year.
Additionally, India made significant palm oil purchases this week, following lower-than-usual purchases in January and February, which had sharply reduced stock levels, according to a trader based in Mumbai. India's palm oil imports rose 36% month-on-month in February after hitting their lowest point since March 2011 in January.
The most active soybean oil contract on Dalian DBYcv1 rose 1.48% after data released on Thursday showed that U.S. soybean oil exports in January reached a 15-year high. The palm oil contract DCPcv1 increased by 2.89%, while soybean oil prices on the Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) BOcv1 fell by 0.35%.
