PTPN Group Strengthens Sustainability with Innovation and Efficiency

InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA – PTPN Group continues to implement various strategic initiatives to support sustainability principles. One of the company's main focuses is on the environmental sector, where PTPN actively applies environmentally friendly plantation practices, including palm oil waste management and the utilization of renewable energy.

One concrete step taken is the use of biogas from palm oil mill waste as an alternative energy source, which has the potential to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Additionally, PTPN is involved in reforestation and agroforestry programs to restore ecological functions in less productive lands.

Mohammad Abdul Ghani, President Director of PTPN III (Persero), stated that in terms of efficiency and innovation, PTPN Group has adopted digital technology and the Internet of Things (IoT) in plantation management systems.

“The implementation of smart plantation systems has proven to increase the productivity of palm oil and sugarcane. Furthermore, as part of our decarbonization efforts, PTPN Group has also developed sugarcane-based bioethanol as a new renewable energy source,” Ghani explained, as reported by InfoSAWIT from Merdeka.com on Monday (February 24, 2025).

PTPN Group is also committed to improving farmers' welfare through fairer and more sustainable partnership schemes. This scheme not only improves farmers' conditions but also strengthens the national plantation industry ecosystem to be more competitive.

Amid increasingly complex industry challenges, Mohammad Abdul Ghani emphasized that PTPN Group will continue its transformation vision focused on sustainability. He believes that sustainability is key to creating a business that not only survives but also thrives and positively impacts society and the environment.

“We are committed to continuing various strategic initiatives to position PTPN as a national plantation company oriented towards sustainable growth,” he added.

For his efforts, Mohammad Abdul Ghani received the Indonesia Best CEO Awards 2024. This award is given to Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) and Chief Financial Officers (CFOs) who are deemed successful in implementing effective business strategies and execution in facing industry challenges, especially amid technological disruption and existing business dynamics.

On this occasion, Mohammad Abdul Ghani stated that this award is the result of the hard work of the entire team at PTPN Group. “Sustainability is not just rhetoric; it has become part of the company's business model to create added value for all stakeholders,” he concluded. (T2)
