InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA – The Attorney General's Office of Indonesia plans to entrust 200,000 hectares of seized assets belonging to PT Duta Palma to the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN). This initiative aims to ensure that the assets remain well-maintained and productive during the ongoing legal proceedings.
Attorney General ST Burhanuddin stated that the temporary management of these assets by the Ministry of BUMN is intended to continue providing benefits to the state and the communities dependent on PT Duta Palma's operations.
"We from the investigative team will strive to ensure that these assets are entrusted to the Minister of BUMN, so they remain preserved and their production does not decline. In the future, these assets are expected to continue generating profits for the government and the communities that rely on PT Duta Palma," Burhanuddin said during a press conference following a coordination meeting held on Tuesday (February 18, 2025), as monitored by InfoSAWIT from the Attorney General's YouTube channel.
Burhanuddin added that the case involving PT Duta Palma is still in the legal process and has not reached a final verdict. Therefore, he assured that the management of the assets would continue smoothly until a definitive decision is made.
"Since this case is not final, the management is still in the hands of PT Duta Palma. To ensure there are no production disruptions or capacity reductions, we have chosen the Ministry of BUMN as the party that can legally manage these assets. BUMN has the capacity to handle such a large asset, whether it will be managed by PTPN or another form to be determined later," Burhanuddin explained.
Meanwhile, Minister of BUMN Erick Thohir welcomed the Attorney General's initiative and emphasized that his ministry would ensure the assets remain beneficial for the state and the community.
"We will ensure that production continues as it should. There should be no layoffs or any disruption to the rights of the communities involved in the core plasma. Additionally, these assets must be managed properly to prevent illegal goods from circulating in the market," Thohir stated.
With the coordination between the Attorney General's Office and the Ministry of BUMN, it is hoped that the management of the seized assets from PT Duta Palma can proceed optimally without disrupting the stability of the national palm oil industry. (T2)
