Brigadier General Ratno Kuncoro: Baintelkam POLRI Ready to Support Independent Palm Oil Farmers in Addressing Legal and Productivity Issues

InfoSAWIT, BOGOR – Brigadier General Ratno Kuncoro, Director of the Economic Intelligence Agency (Baintelkam) of the Indonesian National Police (POLRI), has affirmed his commitment to supporting independent palm oil farmers in overcoming various challenges, particularly those related to legal issues and productivity improvement. This aligns with President Prabowo's directive to strengthen food, energy, and economic independence for the Indonesian people.

In his statement to InfoSAWIT at the end of January 2025, Brigadier General Ratno Kuncoro highlighted the importance of resolving land legality issues and ownership claims, which often hinder independent palm oil farmers. "Land legality issues and individual claims over palm oil plantations are a primary concern for Baintelkam. We are ready to help resolve the legal problems faced by farmers," he said.

Baintelkam POLRI's support for independent palm oil farmers is in line with President Prabowo's vision to enhance national food and energy security. One of the focuses is to reduce the export of raw food materials and encourage added value within the country. Brigadier General Ratno Kuncoro emphasized that Baintelkam will play an active role in realizing this directive.

"We invite all members of the community, including independent palm oil farmers, to discuss with us. Baintelkam is present proactively, not only waiting for problems to arise but also preventing and resolving them," he explained.

In addition to legal issues, Brigadier General Ratno Kuncoro also highlighted other challenges faced by palm oil farmers, such as the availability of fertilizers and superior seeds. According to him, these issues can be resolved through collaboration between farmers, the government, and related parties. "We work according to the rules, not based on personal assumptions. The goal is to support the Food and Energy Security Program initiated by the President," he stressed.

This support is expected to improve the productivity of independent palm oil farmers, who currently face significant challenges in achieving optimal harvests. With superior seeds and quality fertilizers, it is hoped that the productivity of smallholder palm oil plantations can increase significantly.

Brigadier General Ratno Kuncoro also invited the Indonesian Palm Oil Farmers Union (SPKS) and its members to synergize with POLRI members across Indonesia. "We at Baintelkam are ready to receive reports and take action on issues occurring in the field," he said.

This collaboration is expected to provide joint solutions to various problems faced by palm oil farmers, ranging from land legality, availability of production inputs, to improving farmers' capacity. Baintelkam POLRI's support also aligns with the government's goal of creating economic security and welfare for independent palm oil farmers.

Baintelkam POLRI's support for independent palm oil farmers is not just rhetoric but is realized in concrete actions. With a proactive and collaborative approach, it is hoped that palm oil farmers can become more independent, productive, and protected from the legal issues that have hindered their progress.

"We are committed to supporting independent palm oil farmers so they can contribute more significantly to national food and energy security. This is a concrete step towards sustainable and equitable palm oil," concluded Brigadier General Ratno Kuncoro. (T2)
