InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA – The price of crude palm oil (CPO) at PT. Kharisma Pemasaran Bersama Nusantara (KPBN) Inacom is set at Rp. 13,605/kg on Friday (January 24, 2025), marking an increase of 0.53% or approximately Rp 72/kg compared to the CPO price on Thursday (January 23, 2025), which reached Rp. 13,533/kg.
According to information obtained by InfoSAWIT from KPBN, the CPO price for Franco Belawan & Dumai is set at Rp. 13,605/Kg. The CPO price at Talang Duku is set at Rp. 13,405/Kg, and at Teluk Bayur, it is set at Rp. 13,475/Kg.
It is noted that the KPBN palm oil prices experienced a weekly decline for the period of January 20-24, 2025, reaching 1.76%, down to Rp 13,669.80/kg, a decrease of Rp 244.60/kg compared to the CPO price for the period of January 13-17, 2025, which was Rp 13,914.40/kg.
Meanwhile, as reported by Reuters, palm oil futures prices on the Malaysian Exchange fell for the third consecutive session on Friday (January 24, 2025) and are set to record a second weekly decline amid weakening prices of other vegetable oils.
The benchmark palm oil futures price for April 2025 delivery on the Malaysian Derivatives Exchange fell RM 13 per ton or approximately 0.31%, to RM 4,177 (US$ 948.67) per metric ton at midday.
The contract price traded within a tight range between RM 4,156 per ton and RM 4,219 per ton at the start of trading and has decreased by 0.31% so far this week.
Industry analyst Dorab Mistry noted at a sugar and bioenergy conference in Bangkok that Malaysian palm oil is likely to trade around RM 4,000 per metric ton in 2025, but there will be a brief increase to RM 4,800 per ton in February amid stiff competition with soybean oil.
Additionally, a Reuters poll indicated that Malaysian palm oil futures prices are expected to be higher in 2025 compared to last year, as major producer Indonesia increases its consumption of palm oil-based biodiesel, although competition with cheaper soybean oil is expected to limit the increase.
The most active Dalian soybean oil contract fell 0.91%, while the palm oil contract fell 0.31%. Soybean oil on the Chicago Board of Trade fell 0.97%.
