Malikussaleh University Students Undertake Field Work Practice at PTPN IV Mambang Muda Plantation

InfoSAWIT, LABUHAN BATU UTARA – Eight students from the Agroecotechnology Study Program at the Faculty of Agriculture, Malikussaleh University, have completed a one-month Field Work Practice (PKL) at PTPN IV Regional I Mambang Muda Plantation, Labuhan Batu Utara, North Sumatra Province. This activity took place from January 8 to February 8, 2025, aimed at providing practical experience in palm oil cultivation to the students.

Abdul Fattah, one of the eight students participating in this PKL, stated that the program provided invaluable experience in understanding the palm oil cultivation process, from seedling to post-harvest. According to him, this field experience greatly enhances knowledge and practical skills in agriculture.

The manager of PTPN IV Regional I Mambang Muda, Dahlan Maulana, welcomed the students enthusiastically and hoped they would make the most of this opportunity.

As reported by InfoSAWIT from Unimalnews on Wednesday (January 22, 2025), full guidance was provided to the students to ensure they not only understand the theory but also can apply it in real-life situations in the field.

Additionally, Agung, a staff member at the plantation, explained that this activity also aims to introduce the operational and management systems applied at PTPN IV to the students. This is expected to equip them with relevant knowledge and skills to face the job market in the future.

The PKL not only focuses on the technical aspects of palm oil cultivation but also emphasizes the importance of management, teamwork, and responsibility in the workplace. Khoiri Maulana, another PKL participant, added that this activity provides valuable experiences that cannot be gained solely from theory in the classroom.

Thus, the PKL at PTPN IV Mambang Muda serves not only as technical learning but also develops students' capabilities in a real work context, preparing them to become professionals ready to face challenges in the agricultural sector. (T2)
