InfoSAWIT, KUTAI BARAT - Residents of Sekolaq Darat Village in Kutai Barat District have taken the initiative to plant palm trees along damaged roads as a solution to the poor road conditions that are often flooded. Several vehicles, especially palm oil transport trucks, are prohibited from passing due to being blamed as the main cause of the road damage.

According to the Chief of the Sekolaq Darat Subdistrict, Yurang, trucks carrying palm oil with loads exceeding 8 tons are banned from using the road. They are advised to seek alternative routes, including through the road in front of the Kutai Barat Police Station.

Yurang stated that the community wants the trucks to repair the road if they wish to use it. "The road in Sekolaq Darat has been severely damaged due to being traversed by trucks with loads exceeding the allowable capacity," he said.

By the afternoon, dozens of palm oil transport trucks were still stranded at the location, creating a queue extending up to 500 meters.

This situation highlights the crucial role of road infrastructure improvement in supporting mobility and environmental sustainability in the area. (T2)
