InfoSAWIT, PEKANBARU – PT PLN (Persero) Riau and Riau Islands Distribution Unit (UID) through the Rengat Customer Service Implementation Unit (UP3) officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for Electricity Supply with several companies in the Indragiri Hilir North Cluster.
The signing took place on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at the Meeting Room of Swiss-Bellin SKA Hotel Pekanbaru, involving several major companies, including PT Tabungan Haji Indo Plantation, PT Riau Sakti United Plantation, PT Bhumireksa Nusa Sejati, PT Sambu Guntung, PT Riau Sakti Trans Mandiri, PT Guntung Hasrat Makmur, and PT Sumatera Timur Indonesia.
This strategic step is a tangible form of PLN's support for the growth of the palm oil sector in Indragiri Hilir, Riau. Acting Regent of Inhil, H. Erisman Yahya, MH, expressed appreciation for PLN's commitment to supporting regional development.
"God willing, the government is ready to support PLN in realizing electricity supply for the community and industry in Inhil," Erisman stated, as reported by InfoSAWIT from Riaudetil. He also emphasized the region's significant potential, from coconut plantations to palm oil, which is expected to further develop with adequate electrical infrastructure.
General Manager of PLN UID Riau and Riau Islands, Tonny Bellamy, affirmed that the MoU is an important milestone in ensuring electricity needs for operations in the Indragiri Hilir North Cluster.
"With a power capacity of up to 62.3 MVA, we are optimistic that we can support the productivity increase of the palm oil sector in Indragiri Hilir. This step demonstrates the synergy between PLN, local government, and industry players to promote sustainable economic growth," he explained.
Tonny added that reliable electricity supply is expected to enhance the competitiveness of the palm oil industry, open new investment opportunities, increase production capacity, and create jobs for the local community.
Regional Head of PT Tabungan Haji Indo Plantation (THIP), Khaidiri Sitorus, expressed his happiness over the long-awaited arrival of PLN electricity.
"Until now, we have been using oil-fueled generators with high operational costs and frequent fuel supply disruptions. The presence of PLN electricity will be a more economical and reliable solution for our operations," Khaidiri stated.
With this MoU, PLN is expected to promptly realize electricity supply to meet the operational needs of companies in the area. This collaboration is anticipated to be a good starting point for developing the significant potential of the plantation sector in Indragiri Hilir. (T2)
