Palm Oil Entrepreneurs Urged to Comply with Tax Obligations

InfoSAWIT, NUNUKAN – The Tax Service, Counseling, and Consultation Office (KP2KP) of Nunukan is intensifying its educational efforts for entrepreneurs in the palm oil sector regarding their obligations as Taxable Entrepreneurs (PKP). This initiative supports the comprehensive implementation of the Harmonization of Tax Regulations Law (UU HPP).

Muhammad Irfan, the head of KP2KP Nunukan, explained that palm oil is one of the key commodities in the region. “In Nunukan, one of the major commodities is palm oil. We know that fresh fruit bunches are also subject to Value Added Tax (PPN),” he stated, as quoted by InfoSAWIT from KBRN RRI on Thursday (January 9, 2025).

Irfan emphasized the importance of the role of farmers and palm oil collectors in fulfilling tax obligations. Those who meet the requirements are mandated to collect and remit PPN. Therefore, KP2KP Nunukan urges palm oil entrepreneurs to register promptly to be recognized as PKP.

“We encourage farmers and collectors who are required to collect PPN to report themselves to be certified as taxable entrepreneurs,” Irfan added.

To enhance awareness and compliance, KP2KP Nunukan actively provides outreach through various methods, including face-to-face meetings and digital media-based socialization. This approach aims to ensure that entrepreneurs understand their tax responsibilities, particularly concerning PPN.

This ongoing educational effort is expected to improve tax compliance in the palm oil sector. Irfan is optimistic that these efforts will positively contribute to state revenue and support national development.

With the significant potential of palm oil commodities in Nunukan, the role of entrepreneurs in adhering to tax regulations is crucial. KP2KP Nunukan reaffirms its commitment to continue assisting entrepreneurs in fulfilling their tax obligations to promote the sustainability of the local and national economy. (T2)
