InfoSAWIT, SOUTH SUMATRA – PT Pulau Subur Tbk (PTPS) is preparing to build a palm oil processing plant (PKS) in South Sumatra, with the target for the facility to commence operations in the second half of 2025.
Corporate Secretary of PTPS, Liawan Kristianto, revealed that the company is currently finalizing the licensing process. Nevertheless, preparatory steps are being taken in parallel to expedite the construction phase.
“Simultaneously, the company has been procuring machinery for the PKS. Thus, once the permits are obtained, the construction of the plant can proceed immediately, and the machinery can be installed to accelerate completion,” Liawan stated, as reported by InfoSAWIT from EmitenNews on Tuesday (January 7, 2025).
Liawan added that to ensure optimal operation of the PKS, PTPS will utilize fresh fruit bunches (FFB) from both its own plantations and local farmers around the plant's location.
“The company is also actively seeking potential land for acquisition. This aims to meet the production capacity of the PKS currently under construction,” he added.
The establishment of this PKS is expected not only to enhance PTPS's production capacity but also to positively impact the surrounding community. Purchasing FFB from local farmers can increase their income while supporting regional economic growth.
With an operational target set for the second half of 2025, PTPS is optimistic that this strategic move will strengthen the company's position in the palm oil industry. "We are committed to continuing our contribution to the development of the agribusiness sector in Indonesia, particularly in South Sumatra," Liawan concluded.
This plant is anticipated to be part of PTPS's efforts to improve operational efficiency, expand market reach, and support the sustainability of the palm oil sector nationally. (T2)
